With a number of domestic supporter groups despite their small size, York City have a dedicated fan group who have remained by the club's side from their best moments in the Second Division of English football during the 1970s to their darkest days fighting tooth and nail in the Conference premier upon losing Football League status in 2003-04 season and remaining there until their promotion back into the Football League after a 2-1 victory at Wembley. York City has earned the mighty reputation of being giant killers because of historic wins against Manchester United, Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion, Huddersfield Town and Blackpool.
Considering the small size of York, the city has produced a number of notable sporting personalities from a wide variety of sporting disciplines. Popular broadcast journalist and Match of the Day football pundit Guy Mowbray was born and still lives in York, attending York City FC matches regularly. Additionally, the former England manager and current head coach of Newcastle United, Steve McClaren, also has his roots in York. The city is especially renowned for its place in the world of horseracing, with the Royal Ascot coming to the glorious Knavesmire racecourse in 2005; the circuit has 284 years of sporting heritage.
Unlike other places with history by the bucket load, York offers some of the best nightlife in Yorkshire with a number of clubs situated within easy walking distance of each other and the city's centre. We can also add your names to the guest lists of the city's top nightclubs. Contact us today to help get your party started.
